At MWC 2025, Samsung Display is showcasing many new technologies and products. One of them is Flex Gaming, a concept handheld gaming console that has the brand's 7.2-inch foldable OLED display.
This foldable display is aimed at gaming consoles that can fold. At the moment, there are no such products available in the market. However, this display will pave the way for brands to develop one.
Currently, the handheld gaming consoles in the market are very large and bulky. As such, carrying them around is quite a hassle. However, one that can be folded will be very convenient, and many people would be interested in getting such a product.
Unfortunately, apart from the screen size, Samsung Display has not revealed any details about this screen, including its resolution, refresh rate, and brightness. That being said, it should boast specifications similar to those we see on Samsung's foldable smartphones.
Samsung Display Flex Gaming concept
As for the Flex Gaming, it has a pair of joysticks and D-pads on both sides of the display. The D-pads seem to have a cavity in the middle to accommodate joysticks. This design will allow the handheld gaming console to be folded flat without any issues.
In addition to that, it has a home button on the right and a button with ’N’ marked on it on the left. There is a USB Type-C port at the bottom. The device seems to fold like a Galaxy Z Flip phone. In its lime-like green-yellow colour, the Flex Gaming looks very cool.
With the gaming industry always adopting the newest technology in the market and experimenting with various things, we wouldn’t be surprised to see brands like Asus and Lenovo to soon come up with a handheld gaming console featuring a foldable display.
It is different from Flex Gaming Samsung showcased in 2023
It is worth mentioning that Samsung showcased a Flex Gaming concept at CES 2023 as well. However, that product was different from the one that we have today.
The previous model had the same form factor as the current handheld gaming consoles. However, it had a flip-open display. The one that we have today is much more practical.
